Kennebunkport Sunsets

On August 30, 2006, my wife and I, along with many other tourists and locals, were treated to this magnificent sunset as we walked across the Route 9 bridge in Kennebunkport, Maine. On the photo at left, taken at 7:28 p.m. (local time) the Sun had already set on coastal Maine but was still illuminating the underside of the nearby clouds with the last red light of the day. Ten minutes later, as seen on the photo at right, night had fallen on these closer-in clouds, and the formerly bright clouds in the distance were now having their turn at basking in the reddish glow of the westward racing sunset.
